Cut&Paste is proud to present the culmination of Digital Design Tournament 2009 —the first-ever Global Championship. With the broad geographical reach of an Olympic event and the nervy psychological gamesmanship of the X Games, the championship takes the tournament’s international approach to design as spectator sport and amps it up like never before. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the final showdown.
16 cities. 256 international competitors. 48 city champions in 2D Design, 3D Design, and Motion Design.
Between February and June, Cut&Paste has seen Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Boston, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Amsterdam, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Sydney throw their best talents onstage in its annual showcase of design as a fast-paced, high-intensity, internationally competitive spectator sport. Withstanding the pressure of judges hovering, music blaring, minutes ticking down on the clock, a fast-talking MC on the mic, and putting their reputations on the line, three competitors in each city have made claims to the Cut&Paste title. Now they will face off against each other, champions vs. champions, to see which designer will be crowned the worldwide winner.
As with city tournaments, the Global Championship will feature a tech setup that registers every mouse click and tapped command from the designers' workstations and projects them live and in real time on large-scale displays in full view of the audience. With all eyes on their every move, these designers will be giving a live performance to remember—they'll be competing for some serious bragging rights and gunning for the prize.
Winners of the global 2009 Audience Design Contest in 2D design will also be announced at the Global Championship. |
